What is Afcon?

 The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the main international soccer tournament in Africa. It is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and takes place every two years. The tournament features teams from across the African continent, competing to be crowned the champions of Africa.


AFCON is a highly anticipated event in African football and showcases some of the best talent the continent has to offer. It attracts significant attention from fans, media, and scouts from around the world.

The tournament consists of a qualification phase, where teams compete in regional groups to secure a spot in the final tournament. The top teams from each group then participate in the final tournament, which usually includes 24 teams.

The knockout stage consists of single-elimination matches until the final, where the winner is crowned the African champion.

The tournament has a rich history, with Egypt having won the most titles (7) as of the 2019 edition. Other notable winners include Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast.

AFCON not only provides a platform for African teams to showcase their skills but also serves as an opportunity for players to attract the attention of clubs in Europe and other parts of the world. It is a tournament that brings together the passion, talent, and diversity of African football.
